This week’s wallpaper, unlike last week’s, is definitely a water garden plant. This beautiful pink lotus was photographed in the Ancient Lotus Park in Gyōda, Japan. These bright pink lotuses are not only beautiful, but also have a unique story. In the early seventies, the city was excavating a pond to construct a waste disposal facility. A pond was dug, and a couple of years later several of these lotuses came up. It was soon confirmed by experts that the excavation had woken up a bulb that had been laying dormant for between 1400 and 3000 years. A park has since been built around these treasures, drawing visitors from all over the world to see them bloom each summer. Three large ponds are now in the park, and it is estimated that more than ten thousand flowers bloom each year. Download the free wallpaper of this image below.
